 Could I Join the Choir?
Have you sung in a choir of some sort before? Can you read
musical notation (the dots on the staves)? Can you sight-read
music to some extent? Would you enjoy singing with 150 others
in major venues with top orchestras and soloists? Would you
expect to be able to attend at least 75% of the rehearsals
(usually most Tuesdays from September to June)?
How Do I Join The Choir?
 |
| Members of the Choir rehearsing in
Symphony Hall | Ideally, give Lynne Davies a ring
first on 0121 682 4375, so that she can give you further relevant information.
(or e-mail membership@citychoir.org.uk)
Alternatively, simply turn up on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, at the
Friends Meeting House in Bull Street, Birmingham City Centre [map]
and ask for Lynne. The subscription
for the 2009/2010 season is £106 - a bargain for at least five concerts and
about 40 rehearsals! Students in full-time education can join for free!
And you can now pay this in instalments.
When you are ready an audition will be arranged for you. For this you
will need to sing a song of your choice, that you have prepared, and be
able to demonstrate some sight-reading ability.
We are always keen to recruit and encourage more singers, and a scheme
is in place to provide vocal coaching for the whole choir and particularly
for new and young members. Details of this can be found on the Voice Factory page.
