Join the Choir
singing alongside the CBSO and at such a professional level is great— Ceri, 46, alto
Would you like to experience the thrill of singing with a choir that has been making great choral music for 90 seasons?
Are you seeking a musical pursuit that can be fitted into a busy lifestyle?
We…
- …are a welcoming, friendly choir
- …perform in major venues with top orchestras and soloists
- …provide two hours of superb choral training each week with our charismatic conductor, Adrian Lucas
- …arrange small-group intensive vocal coaching several times a year for each member
You…
- …have probably sung in a choir before
- …can read musical notation and sight-read music to some extent
- …will be able to attend at least 75% of rehearsals held on Tuesdays from September to June
That sounds great!
Ideally, contact Lynne Davies by filling in our contact form, so that she can give you further relevant information.
Alternatively, simply turn up on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30pm (September to June), at the Friends Meeting House in Bull Street, Birmingham City Centre and ask for Lynne. The subscription for the 2011/2012 season is £150, but a £40 discount is available in the first year of membership and students in full-time education can join for free! The subscription can be paid in instalments and is a bargain for at least five concerts and about 40 rehearsals.
When you are ready an audition will be arranged for you. For this you will need to sing a song of your choice, that you have prepared, and be able to demonstrate some sight-reading ability.

We are always keen to recruit and encourage more singers, and a scheme is in place to provide vocal coaching for the whole choir and particularly for new and young members. Details of this can be found on the Voice Factory page.
