recommendations | It's gratifying to learn
that the Choir's reputation goes far
and wide. The clip shown comes from the Saturday Times and places
us as Richard Morrison's top choice in his Top 10 Classical concerts
listing.
The Guide in The Guardian has
also been known to list our famous Messiah concerts and we have
had the occasional review in national papers. It's an ever-difficult
market to conquer, and Marketing Manager Gwyn Williams, Press Secretary
Su Whale and Publicity Secretary Teri Millane are pulling out all the
stops to tap into as much publicity as they can.
All those who attended our Mozart/Tippett/Haydn concert will know
that it was certainly worthy of The Times' recommendation [You can read
Christopher Morley's review in the Birmingham Post here]. However,
despite our marketing efforts, we only managed to attract some 600
concert-goers, meaning that we sang to a one-third capacity audience.
If anyone has any ideas why so many folk stayed away from what, on
paper, looked a very attractive concert, do let us know!
