 OPEN REHEARSAL
22 January 2008
Many thanks to all those who helped out with the Open Rehearsal -
the warm reception, meeting and greeting, sharing copies of music
and for the drinks at the interval.
Bearing in mind that this was now our third Open Rehearsal we had
feared that the 'law of diminishing returns' would begin to apply
to the numbers turning up but were delighted that a total of 13 people
joined us for the evening, and I know of at least one other who would
have come along but was struck down with the lurgy.
In order to generate an interest in the evening, information was put
in the Christmas and Messiah concert programmes, leaflets were on display
when we sang carols at the Bull Ring and Touchwood shopping centre,
flyers were sent out to 50 companies in the Birmingham area and leaflets
were handed out to current members at the rehearsal on Jan 15th.
We are still awaiting feedback forms from some of the people who joined
us last week, but received some very positive comments on the night and
an example of one response is as follows:
"I just wanted to drop you a line to say what a thoroughly good
time I had last night. The sound of the choir was truly inspiring. It
has made me do something that I have wanted to do for ages and that's
to organise singing lessons. I am starting next week - 30 mins singing
and 30 mins piano and we'll see how it goes. ... Many thanks for the
warm reception."
Another potential member said that he fully hoped to join us after Easter
when his diary will permit him to attend our rehearsals.
Thanks to Adrian and Colin who, as always, made the rehearsal an
informative and most enjoyable evening.
If anyone has any other ideas with regard to recruitment initiatives,
or indeed would like to join in with trying to attract new members Stella
and I would be delighted to hear from you - either catch us at one of
the rehearsals or send me an email [via info@citychoir.org.uk marked FOA
Helen Davies].
Many thanks,
Helen Davies
