Diapason dī-ə-pā-zən, n. 1. A rich outpouring of harmonious sound. 2. The entire range of an instrument or voice. 3. Either of two principal stops on a pipe organ that give it its characteristic tone colour.
This varied programme showcases popular pieces from the choral repertoire as well as the magnificent Town Hall organ. With pieces by Parry, Duruflé, Fauré and Bernstein performed by the City of Birmingham Choir, world renowned organist Thomas Trotter and the choristers of Worcester Cathedral you can expect some serious ‘diapason’!

Interesting fact!
The City of Birmingham Choir gave the first English performance of Durufle’s Requiem on 23rd &24th June 1952 with the composer playing the organ. It was broadcast by the BBC.
