Join us for a summer’s afternoon of music, celebrating the best of English folk and poetry, courtesy of some of our most prominent and loved composers of modern times, including Ralph Vaughan Williams, John Rutter and Gerald Finzi. Take a musical journey through traditional and well-loved folk songs arranged for chamber orchestra and choir, culminating in a performance of Finzi’s Requiem da Camera, composed after the First World War in memory of those who had fallen. This is an opportunity to hear a rarely performed piece of work, which, with its soaring melodies and magical a cappella choral writing is both beautiful and moving.
